This position applies technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved automated manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment. Ensure that the design specifications and procurement of automated control systems meet company needs and demands. Automation Engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to evolve current processes into automated cells as well as design and implement new automated manufacturing technologies.


Equipment Development and Implementation:

  • Design and build of automated control systems to support new equipment.
  • Design and build upgraded control systems for existing equipment.
  • Develop and build control systems that conform to all applicable safety standards.
  • Collaboration with small teams on in-house development of novel and complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Specification development for manufacturing equipment.
  • Close collaboration with external equipment suppliers on equipment design.
  • Management of external equipment suppliers from equipment development through buyoff.

Process Development and Implementation:

  • Development of new automated manufacturing processes.
  • Creation of detailed documentation to define new processes and new equipment operation.
  • Training of technicians and line operators on manufacturing process controls.
  • Design of control systems with a focus on productivity and efficiency.
  • Performance of process analysis and capacity modeling.
  • Deployment of statistical control for key processes.


Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in electrical design on industrial control systems.
  • Electrical Schematics
  • PLC programming (Allen Bradley).
  • HMI design and programming (Allen Bradley / Wonderware).
  • Safety Circuits.
  • Design and Implementation of Industrial networks (Ethernet I/P, Device Net, Etc.)
  • Proficiency in designing electro-mechanical equipment, control systems, fixturing and tooling in 3D and 2D CAD systems (Catia, AutoCad, etc.)
  • Project management and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with compliances and Legal requirements related to industrial equipment.
  • Proven Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in robotics, automated CNC machining, and advanced manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, RS Logix500, RS Logix 5000,and RS Studio.


  • BS/MS in Engineering Discipline (Electrical / Mechatronics preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on controls/manufacturing/design engineer working on industrial controls and/or electromechanical systems.

Allowed Majors

All General Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering majors.
