We presently have a full-time Quality Inspector position available at our Elkmont, Alabama Manufacturing Facility. This position will report to the Quality Manager. This position is on the third shift with hours of 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning Monday through Friday and overtime as required on weekends.

 

The right candidate will be responsible for conducting daily quality assurance audits within the manufacturing facility. Audits cover the scope of all operations within the facility, such as components, in-process, and finished goods. The technician is additionally responsible for ensuring that adequate records are maintained of all quality auditing.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks

  • Inspects purchased parts, incoming material, outside-serviced product, and finished product for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements. Conformity may include:
  • Proper identity
  • Correct quantity and operations performed
  • Visual appearance
  • Functionality of assembled product
  • Dimensional characteristics using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Audits in-process product checks performed by production personnel.
  • Assists with initiating containment activities and documenting the results of product containment actions.
  • Verifies rejected material from production, completes reject documentation, and disposes of rejected material.
  • Assists with sorting and rework when needed.
  • Performs process audits when process changes have been implemented.
  • Understand and observe safety rules and safe work practices for the workplace.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other associates to resolve quality issues.
  • Supports facility 6S initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements and Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Attention to important details
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret standard operating procedures, quality reports, and other written instructions as needed.
  • Basic analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
  • Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Experience using and interpreting measurement devices including calipers, micrometers, gauges, hardness tester, and surface finish tester
  • Teamwork skills
  • Experience as a CNC or manual machinist.
  • Must possess good command of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Physical Requirements

 

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds continuously for eight hours. Any lifting above 35 pounds must have the assistance of another associate.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time during an eight hour shift.

 

 Accountabilities

  • Accountable for auditing components, in-process, and finished goods at the Elkmont Manufacturing Facility.
