Overview

 

Snap-on Diagnostics, a division of Snap-on Inc., is looking for an Electronic Lab Technician as part of our Hardware Development Engineering design team in Lincolnshire, IL.  Our team is focused on product design, hardware development, and product testing of automotive diagnostic test equipment for the automotive service market. 

                    Position Description:

                     Assist product development Engineering team with managing (Bills Of Materials), modifying circuit boards, performing                                     SMT soldering, building prototype products, and validation testing of prototypes. Support sustaining existing products in                                   manufacturing through communication with engineering and operations teams.                             

                            Responsibilities:

                    *Facilitate NPI-New Product Introduction process steps by supporting Engineering teams during transition of products from                               development phase through manufacturing phase.

                    *Prepare product documentation and communicate with internal and external team members regarding project status.

                    *Participate in parts procurement and prototype product builds.

                    *Perform product testing and troubleshooting.  Read, understand, and modify product test procedures under direction of an                               Engineer.

                   Key Competencies:

                   Experience in electronic circuit board troubleshooting and repair.

                   Experience reading and understanding electronic schematics and electronic component specifications.

                   Experience reading and understanding mechanical part and assembly drawings.

                   Experience in general PC use, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (email).

                   Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.

                   Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.  Able to learn new skills quickly.

                   Able to work independently and manage time well with multiple projects.

                   General familiarity with UL and CE product safety test standards.

                   General familiarity with 8D/CAR processes.

                 Qualifications:

                   Education:  Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent work experience

                   Years of experience:  General electronics technical knowledge and a minimum of 2 years of related electronic technician                                   experience.
