Overview

As a Material Handler 1 at Snap-on AutoCrib, you will be responsible for the accurate receiving, storing, and shipping of products to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity. This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth in our warehouse and inventory management operations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently load and unload freight using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
  • Follow all company guidelines regarding packaging. Identify and dispose of defective items appropriately.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other departments to optimize processes.
  • Safely operate all necessary equipment and tools as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous warehousing, logistics, or material handling experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management software are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform general office tasks such as typing, operating office machines, and sorting mail.
  • Must be able to operate in a warehouse environment subject to moderate deviations in temperature.

Work Environment:

  • This job generally operates in a warehouse setting. The role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other necessary tools.
