Overview

Position Summary: Comprehensive monitoring and treatment of waste waters from process operations and ensure constant compliance of plant goals and state and federal guidelines are met.

Responsibilities

KEY TASKS

Comprehensive monitoring and treatment of waste waters from process operations and ensure constant compliance of plant goals and state and federal guidelines are met.

 

Report any out of specifications to Supervisor or Process Technician in the supervisor's absence.

 

Performs waste treatment activities including: Start up; close down; pH checks; treatability checks; chemical additions; taking samples of discharge water; acid washing Vibratory Finishing and F006 filter presses; cleaning F006 and Vibratory Finishing presses removing the filter cake and disposing in proper place; keeping waste water records and turning in completed records; inspect tanks, pits, filters, pumps, equipment; make additions of chemicals to boiler feed system; responsible for the calibration and maintenance of pH and ORP equipment utilizing the assistance of the Process Technician; responsible for filter changes on water reuse and quality of water; maintain inventory of treatment chemicals; performs routine analysis of waste water using established procedures; performs housekeeping and upgrading assignments relating to waste treatment including cleaning tanks, pits, sumps, painting, moping; responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all water treatment functions; responsibility for laboratory testing and sludge thickness checks; responsible for operation of sludge dryer, keeping the sludge 90% solid or better.

 

Must check the following every four (4) hours:  (a) nickel pH, (b) specific gravity of the chrome (c) pH, and (d) regulator.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to read and write; add and subtract whole numbers; use reading and fixed gauges.

 

Prefer

 

SPCC, MSDS, Spill Control, and Chemical Safety training.
