Overview

Position Summary: Carry out compliance/legal tasks requiring little independent judgment in a high volume and fast paced environment under the direct supervision of the Director of Compliance, and the indirect supervision the Director of Legal Services and VP of Legal Services.

Responsibilities

Major Responsiblities

  • Provide operational and research support for various compliance and audit functions related to the portfolio, supporting the department as needed on special projects.
  • Help manage, process and respond to Automated Credit Dispute Verifications (ACDV’s), Credit Bureau Furnisher’s Disputes, review all Dispute accounts and all credit reports associated with such accounts, update all 3 bureaus and perform applicable ECS maintenance.
  • Assist with administrative lookups and corrections for customer accounts
  • Document and follow-up on all matters entered into the complaint tracking system.
  • Provide operational support for various compliance and legal administrative functions related to the portfolio, document scanning, printing, &/or collation, overnight shipping, document retrieval and filing, supporting the department as needed on special projects.
  • Maintenance of task lists and follow-up dates for Complaint/Nonconformity logs
  • Conduct and report on a number of compliance related audit functions as well as legal services functions, prepare related reports directed by the Director of Compliance and the Director of Legal Services.
  • Assist with state licensing and state audits/requests for information; Assist VP of Legal Services with tasks as assigned.
  • Invoice Processing, assist with overflow of production needs for Compliance and Legal Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus one to two years of experience in a financial services environment
  • Knowledge of credit reporting requirements and/or bankruptcy law is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge including Microsoft Word, and Excel

Functional expertise through experience and/or education in:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Customer Service
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations related to compliance in the credit and financial services industries preferred
  • Familiarity with NMLS and like registration systems used by the federal and state governments preferred

  • Individual must be proactive, very well organized, adaptive, flexible and must possess an excellent work ethic as well as be a team player
  • Conscientious and detail oriented, while maintaining appropriate speed of processing
  • Self-starting problem solver, with an ability to identify issues and trends and bring them to management’s attention
  • Receptive to audit and coaching reviews

Effort: Normal working hours; some overtime expected. If not already a paralegal, the expectation will be that the successful candidate will pursue a paralegal certificate; the Snap-on Credit tuition reimbursement program will be available to assist in this effort.
