Position Summary

 

We presently have a full-time position for a Engineering Technician III at our Elkmont, Alabama Manufacturing Plant. The work hours for this role are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. with overtime as maybe required including weekends. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

 

The position involves the efficient interaction with personnel, materials, and machines within the Elkmont Manufacturing facility.  Work is under the direction of the Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) work cell design/layout, equipment/tooling selection, work flow planning, statistical analyses of production processes, quality, and cost reduction using lean manufacturing tools.

KEY TASKS

 

SAFETY

  • Assist in instilling a zero tolerance for unsafe conditions and/or unsafe acts. 

QUALITY

  • Ensure that products are produced to meet required quality specifications
  • Monitor the progress on the set-up of equipment for production and ensure that work instructions, lock-out/tag-out procedures and required training are delivered prior to the initial run of equipment turned over to the production department. Allocated additional resources to ensure set-ups are accomplished quickly and effectively.

      PRODUCTION

  • Familiarize the team with the needs, specifications, targets, the standards, techniques, and tools to support production.
  • Work with functional managers to obtain necessary resources to support the team's requirements

      LEADERSHIP / MOTIVATION

  • Works with hourly shift associates and others to develop an effective, proactive team that works together to achieve the facility objectives.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. Equivalent.
  • At least three years of prior work experience within a manufacturing/production environment is required for this role 
  • Vast knowledge of CNC machining applications and ability to identify all tooling/fixturing required to machine products per specifications.
  • Advanced technical training and certifications are highly preferred.
  • Experience in ordering parts/supplies and maintaining an inventory to minimize downtime to the operation.
  • Knowledge of standard machining practices with detailed knowledge of the operation and programming of all Elkmont equipment.
  • CAD/CAM experience (MasterCAM, PartMaker, Catia, AutoCAD)
  • Experience with macro programming is a plus
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical drawings and specification documents.
  • Demonstrated history of a positive attitude, self motivated behavior, and good team work skills.
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blue prints, and use precision measuring devices. Must have good mathematical skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and perform root cause analysis while also providing viable solutions
  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older and have good command of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.

Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions are:

  • Sitting, bending, standing and/or walking for an extended period of time, Light lifting on a repetitive basis or lifting on an occasional basis of approximately 30 lbs, Visual acuity, Depth perception, Eye-hand coordination, Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and the ability to withstand work temperature changes.
