Machining Operations Manager

Overview

Snap-on Power Tools in Murphy, NC is looking for a dynamic individual to join our management team as Machining Operations Manager. This position is a key member of our management team and reports directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidate will join a team of seasoned manufacturing executives at this award-winning facility. This position will be responsible for production operations, quality assurance, technical line support, and line scheduling within the machining department while working with the Safety, Human Resources, Procurement, Materials, Planning, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality departments to drive continuous improvement in these key performance indicators. Operations managed will include milling, turning, drilling, heat-treating, vibratory finishing, plating, and painting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily manufacturing operation through asset managers and cell leaders
  • Establish operational strategies by evaluating operation trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, and customer service strategies; acquiring resources; resolving problems; and implementing change.
  • Develop manufacturing financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances
  • Produce products that meet customer expectations by formulating, installing, and enforcing effective manufacturing practices; developing and improving production procedures, methods, and techniques; and developing and enforcing inspection and quality assurance standards, procedures, and methods.
  • Review manufacturing metrics in relation to developed standards on a continuous basis and ensure that appropriate corrective measures are taken to improve unsatisfactory performance
  • Develop plans for efficient use of resources including materials, equipment, and personnel
  • Evaluate and improve plant processes and controls within the production process
  • Develop personnel within the machining department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.  (MBA a plus)
  • 10 plus years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning and tactical skill sets
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in continuous improvement and change management
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Project Management skill sets
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
