Responsibilities

Provide manufacturing support through various manufacturing engineering disciplines to insure products are manufactured in accordance with proper processes, methods and routings, performed in a cost effective manner.  Act as the manufacturing engineering contact for day to day production problem solving and communicate needs, problems, and results to the Operations Manager, manufacturing team, and corporate engineering staff as needed.                         

  • Improve processes and/or routings where needed for improvements in safety, quality, delivery and productivity/cost.
  • Perform root cause investigation and implement steps for resolution of production related engineering problems. 
  • Investigate manufacturing problems, making recommendations for changes and performing follow up to insure changes are implemented
  • Communicate with production planning, tool design, industrial engineering, plant supervision, corporate engineering staff and operators to insure that all are informed of manufacturing plans. 
  • Plan and organize projects to see that they are completed as scheduled. 
  • Initiate and maintain an active project docket with emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Justify through corporate capital program new equipment to meet plant production needs with emphasis on improved methods through technology gains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, i.e. cellular manufacturing, CNC processes
  • Ability to interact with peers and subordinates. 
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Thorough working knowledge of:
    • Blueprints including geometric tolerancing
    • Manufacturing processes
    • Production equipment capability
    • Tooling
    • Fixture design
    • Product costing
    • Accounting procedures
    • Design and development of tooling and fixtures
    • Process design
    • CAD experience is a plus
  •  
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
