Overview

Position Summary

 

Snap-on is embarking on a cloud data warehouse modernization journey. As we transition from Oracle to a next-generation platform (Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric), we are seeking a hands-on, strategic technical expert to support the data engineering lifecycle, contribute to the migration effort, and help enable scalable, efficient data solutions across our enterprise. This individual will play an important role in shaping the architecture and supporting the broader data strategy under the Data Services organization, working closely with existing team members.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Contribute to technical efforts to migrate Snap-on's enterprise data warehouse from Oracle to a modern cloud-based platform.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python and ETL tools like Talend, CData, or equivalent.
• Collaborate closely with Bl, data science, and application teams to enable unified data delivery and analytics solutions.
• Maintain and optimize existing Oracle PL/SQL solutions during transition.
• Translate business requirements into performant, scalable technical solutions.
• Partner with IT and business leadership to support architectural decisions aligned with strategic data goals.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to documentation to ensure long-term maintainability.
• Support DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, data governance, and metadata management.
• Assist in managing operational processes, monitoring, and troubleshooting for data movement and transformation workflows.
• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data warehousing roles.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL expertise.
• Advanced Python programming skills with experience in data pipelines, automation, and scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Talend, CData Sync, or similar ETL tools.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric/OneLake, Synapse, or Databricks).

• Experience with Oracle-to-cloud migrations.
• Working knowledge of Power BI and/or Tableau.
• Exposure to metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality practices.
• Experience integrating with ERP or enterprise applications.
• Proficiency in working with Git, CI/CD tools, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Ability to operate in an Agile or hybrid project environment.
