Overview

Challenger Lifts, Inc., a division of Snap-on is seeking a candidate to provide manufacturing support through various manufacturing engineering disciplines to ensure products are manufactured in accordance with proper processes, methods and routing, and performed in a cost effective and high-quality manner. Design and develop equipment and tooling for automotive lift equipment manufacturing applications. Provide direction to maintenance staff, engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design and development for new and existing machinery and equipment to support automotive lift equipment manufacturing operation, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials.

• Assist in introduction and implementation of new products to production environment.

• Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records.

• Use precise measuring instruments to inspect and approve production kickoff, equipment returned or for trouble shooting.

• Test and validate automotive lifts and accessories to assure product performance and quality.

• Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.

• Develop or modify manufacturing processes, work instructions and quality procedures.

• Work with manufacturing engineering on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and/or improve performance of designs.

• Must be familiar with 8D and 6S practice.

• Develop metrics to track progress and improvements made.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science with a minimum of 3 years design experience.

• Up to date knowledge in mechanical design.

• Proficient with CAD software (Pro-E preferred).

• Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly hydraulics, pneumatics and PLC’s.

• Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.

• Must possess good problem solving and analytical skills.

• Must be hands-on, willing to develop custom solutions from concept and design, through build and completion.

• Must have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.

• Experience with fixture/tooling design, robotics and robotic welding, CNC equipment and plasma/laser cutting.

• Project management and customer interface experience is a plus.

• Work flexible hours as required.
