Overview

Position Summary:            Set-up and operate, in a safe manner, any and/or all machining, automation and polishing equipment within a production cell.  This will include all quality checks per the control plan.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks

  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures.
  • Remove and replace dull cutting tools
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machine, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Listen to machine during operation in order to detect sounds as those made by dull cutting tools and adjust machines to compensate
  • Adjust machine feeds and speed, change cutting tools or adjust machine controls when necessary.
  • Stop machine or remove finished workpieces or to change tooling according to required machining sequences
  • Calculate machine speed and fee ratios and the size and position of cuts
  • Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operations
  • Set-up and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions.
  • Confer with supervisor or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or errors.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays
  • Maintain machines and remove/replace broken/worn tools
  • Clean machines as needed
  • Stack/load finished items into containers
  • Set-up future jobs while machine is operating
  • All individuals must be flexible to rotate within any ratchet body cell.
  • Support and adhere to all 6-S and TPM requirements.
  • Wear the proper personal protective equipment distributed and approved by the company.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Flexible to work overtime is required.
  • Support continuous improvement
  • Perform all necessary quality checks   per the quality control plan.
  • Meet and also exceed required productivity levels.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • High School diploma or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Level 4 CRC Preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions. Work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail. Use and interpret measuring equipment.

  • Use precise judgment to plan and perform work; make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limit of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
