Overview

Execute a variety of quality assurance tasks consistent with plant and corporate quality objectives and metrics. Tasks include supplier quality assurance, development and implementation of shop floor quality procedures, support of advanced product development (FMEAs, control plans, product / process capability studies), and audits of the system for compliance. Position is tasked with identifying quality issues and taking an active role in their resolution, insuring product quality that meets or exceeds customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Using plant metrics and other derived data, lead quality improvement activities. Lead and or assist in cross functional teams to successfully complete those activities.
  • Provide interface between the Quality department and all other departments relative to the Snap-on Quality System
  • Investigate, analyze and initiate corrective and preventive action of adverse quality trends or conditions using information from customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and field inspection
  • Participate in the Internal Audit program to ensure company standards are being followed. Follow-up on Corrective Actions.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Quality Manager. 
  • Provide employee Quality training as needed
  • Support plant wide Lean Manufacturing initiates.
  • Design and Develop inspection gages, techniques, and processes.

Qualifications

  • The position requires a BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of two years of related experience in a metal working environment.
  • Experience with ISO9001 and SPC is needed
  • ASQ certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of statistics and its application to solve problems. Prefer Six Sigma trained individual.
  • Strong understanding of gage design and application.  
  • Hands-on production experience for at least two years to include blueprint reading, and use of measuring equipment (ex: micrometers, calipers, angle gages, height gages, hardness tester, optical comparator).
  • Must work well in a team environment. Must be a self starter.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication. Organizational, and planning skills essential.
