  • Overview

    Provides strategic leadership for all demand planning, forecasting, inventory management while mitigating supply chain costs.  Analytically determines the proper inventory mix to meet the competing goals of product availability and return on assets. Evaluates and coordinates with departments responsible for inventory and implementing inventory policies. This position focuses on the identification of opportunities for inventory management improvements.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic direction and long range demand planning, forecasting and inventory management for extensive internal and external supply base.
    • Develop demand plan based on business trends and demand patterns. 
    • Lead Executive Sales & Operations planning processes.   
    • Develop and implement stocking strategies and respective controls.
    • Interface with promotional planning teams to develop and maintain processes and technology to ensure promotional planning requirements are managed and communicated to the supply base.
    • Coordinates activities to effectively improve inventory turns (field and supply chain).
    • Analytically set product line/item specific inventory targets for supply chain based upon defined service levels.
    • Maintain key components of inventory targeting for each item, including safety stock and lead times.
    • Determine root causes of performance variances and lead resolution process.
    • Strategically partners with cross-functional leaders on key distribution, manufacturing and sourcing projects and initiatives.
    • Optimization of the DC inventory to maximize storage efficiency and minimize handling.
    • Enforce and measure timeliness of inventory depletion to promotions (sell out rate).
    • Lead LEAN improvement events and projects for the group.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent. MBA preferred.  Breadth of experience required for this position would normally be acquired over a successful career of 10+ years related experience in demand planning, supply chain, manufacturing, distribution, materials management, logistics and operations. 
    • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems, MRP planning, forecasting systems, inventory optimization software, supply chain design and lean supply chain methods.  Specifically Infor SSA LN ERP software and JDA Forecasting Tools.
    • Leadership skills including excellent communication skills.  Proven abilities in: influencing (up, across, down), problem solving, decision making and relationship building.
    • Manage well under pressure.  Able to lead teams during periods of significant organizational and business change.
    • Other requirements and attributes include strong project management skills, data driven, results oriented, accountable for results.
    • Energetic.  Demonstrated sense of urgency.  Committed to continuous improvement.
    • Ability to travel up to 30%.
